Take Time To Laugh

I was going to try to write some eloquent article about taking time out from your day just to laugh and smile. But I just couldn't find the words to write an article that will match up to this video. So I'll just say, if you're looking for a good laugh, take two minutes out of your day to watch this.

What a great way to start the day!

Mondays

Sometimes Mondays just really live up to their own stereotype. Yesterday, we had some thunderstorms roll through that were a little rough. No complaints here about the rain as we desperately needed it. But the windows in our bedroom started leaking. Lovely! Our house is only three months old. We have a warranty, thank goodness, but I can't find even a phone number to call about it. I have a call into the builder to see if they can help.

Second, we were charged about $15 in roaming on my cell phone. We have a nationwide plan and I know I was sitting in my house when I made the phone calls. When I called someone at 11:56am, it was roaming. I talked for 2 minutes and called someone else at 11:59am and it was not. I was standing in my kitchen the entire time. Explain that one! Rob already tried to talk to our cell phone company and got nowhere with it. So I figured I would give it a shot. She told me my name's not on the account so she can't talk to me. Now I KNOW my name is on there as I've had to call in the past when Rob was deployed. Besides the fact that when I log in online to our account, it says Welcome Stacey! She said she couldn't help me and hung up.

And last, our DISH went out during the storm last night. No big deal, it usually goes out when we have a big storm. Well this morning it still wasn't back so I called technical support. After doing all kinds of stuff to it, they decide they need to send out a technician....who can come on Wednesday at the earliest. The only thing I really care to see is the season finale of Army Wives. Other than that, I'm not too concerned about what I'm missing.

So no television. I'm afraid to use my cell phone in the house because who knows if they'll decide I'm roaming. And now I'm worried about our windows too.

Sorry for the whining post but man, it is definitely a Monday!! And its only 9am!

Please share your experiences!

Many times I receive emails asking me what AIT is going to be like for their soldier if he is not Infantry. And I have to tell them that I have no clue but I'm sure that there are some on the message board who can answer their questions for them. So I thought it would be great if we could have a resource on the website about AIT for each MOS.

You don't have to know exactly what he did to respond. I mean really how many of us are THAT interested in exactly what they are learning about when it comes to tanks, ammo, explosives, etc. LOL! I'm going to guess not too many. What most of us really want to know is how long is the training, can I move with him, how much communication will we have, etc.

To make the process easier, I developed a short questionnaire that you can fill out and email to me. I think having this information available from someone who has been there, done that will be incredibly helpful to so many Army wives and family members.

Please take a few minutes to help out your fellow Army wife who is just getting started on the journey by filling this out...AIT Questionnaire

Thank you!

Army Wives Invade NashVegas

Otherwise known as Nashville! Eleven of us from MTTA/AWC gathered together in Nashville, TN this past weekend. The Embassy Suites didn't know what hit them! It was a great time and it was really interesting to finally be able to meet people in person who you've been talking to online for several years.

We were also able to incorporate a bachelorette party for our bride to be, Rebecca. She was all dolled up when we went out Saturday night - complete with a tiara and veil. I will save all of the details for the message board but I think it would be great to turn this into an annual event. Especially for the ones with deployed soldiers, it was a way to get away and think about something else for once!

I loved meeting you all and I hope we get to do it again soon! Hmmm...maybe an annual event isn't often enough!

Army Wives Helping Each Other

Recently, I've had several people write and "donate" (for lack of a better term) articles for the website. They have written about their experience or those subjects about which they have a level of expertise. This is of tremendous help not only to me but to all of those who visit the website.

I believe it greatly improves the website when we get more than just one voice on it. We all come from different walks of life and of course have different perspectives on how things are happening in this Army lifestyle. These ladies that have donated their time and talent to not only improve the website but to improve the information available for all Army families are truly a blessing to me.

I just want to say thank you for those of you who have taken the time to do this. We can never share too much information about the Army life with others. If you're interested in writing for the website, please contact me. I'd love to have your perspective on the website.

Soon, I'll also be announcing a new section on the website that will be solely dedicated to the careers of Army spouses. We have a section called that now but I'm hoping to get many different perspectives and career choices added soon. Stay tuned!
